The world,a little slower
These photographs linger on moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
People find their place within water, architecture and light. Then the gaze moves closer:
Nothing more is asked of you than to look.
The slow view shows all forty-three photographs, ten seconds each, about seven minutes in all. Added together, the recorded exposures last about 1/30 of a second.
Plan of the exhibition
Seven rooms, from the widest view to the closest. Select a room to walk in.
Room I
From a little higher
Water, seen from above
Seen from a bridge, the river slows into a dark field and the pedalos drift across it like small rafts of colour. A man rests on a bench beside an empty clay court. A guillemot lifts off and leaves its reflection behind. From up here nobody seems to be in a hurry, including the one looking.

Room II
Room for one
Architecture
Bridges, piers, boardwalks and runways, each with room for exactly one. A man sits beside a mooring post. A child pulls a suitcase under curved steel. A cyclist crosses an empty airfield beneath cirrus. Look for long enough and the moon appears, twice.

Room III
At the edge of the water
The beach
Late summer on the Catalan coast. People settle where the sand meets the sea: under a parasol, in a folding chair, beside a lifeguard tower as the sky darkens. No one here is going anywhere soon.

A patch of shade
Light
In the southern midday, shade is somewhere you go. These photographs follow people in and out of it: a hand held in the air, two women crossing a pool of light, a dog’s shadow running ahead of its walk. The two Capeline pictures belong together, a gesture and the stillness after it.

Those who look back
Animals
Some subjects return the look. A goat in profile against the sky, Highland cattle at rest and in protest, two guillemots on a quay wall, a black cat behind a net. They kept still long enough for the photograph, and a little longer.

Small rituals
Interiors
Coffee that takes its time. A phin filter on a saucer, water poured slowly over the grounds, a café table waiting by a bright window. A curtain lifts across a dark street. A cat stretches out on cool tiles. A day is made of small things, repeated.

Room VII
Closer still
Leaves, flowers, rain
Then the gaze moves closer: flowers held in the light, a drop of rain, a bright insect at the edge of a leaf. These are the smallest subjects in the exhibition, and they ask for the most time.
